hello kenya, goodbye ethiopia
3.2
We crossed over from Ethiopia to Kenya today, and are staying at a campsite in the border town. Did not realize that there would be internet access, or I would have downloaded to a memory stick my blog since the last posting. Oh well, please be patient and good things will come to you.
But, the internet access is painfully slow, so will post more when I get faster internet.
But, am back on the bike the past 4 days, and my hip is feeling much better.
The border crossing was interesting – we arrived at the Ethiopia immigration at 11:05, only to find out that they closed at 11 but would be back in 3 hours. No problem, our Ethiopian fixer found the immigration guys, and they came back and opened up for us. Suspect that cash was exchanged, but who knows? The visa process is truly make-work for the third world, but one must do the dance to cross the border.
I think that most of the group is happy to leave the kids of Ethiopia, and we are hoping that the Kenyan kids are much better behaved.
More to follow once I get better internet.
